Certainly.  Send a message to test-request at domain.edu and put
"subscribe" in the body of the message.  Or send a message with "help"
in the body and you'll get back a helpful message explaining the
commands.  If you've ever used the traditional "majordomo" software,
you'll find the commands are quite similar.
