[Mailman-Users] Problems running 'configure' for Mailman 2.0.5

I have set the perms according to the docs.  

The top-level dir is: /export/home/mailman
The perms are: drwxrwsr-x   4 root  mailman      512 Nov  2 14:16 mailman
This is the output from 'check_perms':

dpompilio# /export/home/mailman/mailman-2.0.5/bin/check_perms
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/export/home/mailman/mailman-2.0.5/bin/check_perms", line 30, in ?
    import os
ImportError: No module named os

Any suggestions gurus?
