As oler folks have said, you're _begging_ for trouble using an ampersand in 
an e-mail address. If you're determined to do it anyway, try changing your 
aliases to something like:

/var/lib/mailman/mail/wrapper post 'r&d'

ths single quotes will get you past the immediate problem, but you may run 
into others.
