Using RH linux, sendmail, mailman 2.0
I have a script set up in my /etc/aliases file thus:

## forum mailing list
## created: December 2000 mailman
forum: "|/usr/local/bin/stripmime.pl|/home/mailman/mail/wrapper post forum"

...... and the mail sent to this address bounces like this:

                ***************************************

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
"|/usr/local/bin/stripmime.pl|/home/mailman/mail/wrapper post forum"
    (expanded from: <forum at domainname.com.au>)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
sh: cannot use | in command
554 "|/usr/local/bin/stripmime.pl|/home/mailman/mail/wrapper post
forum"...
Service unavailable

		***************************************

Alex, who wrote the script, says it works on FreeBSD. Can anyone
suggest why it may not work on linux? I've also tried it with spaces
around the pipe.

TIA, David.

(for the record, the script strips mime attachments.. it's at
http://www.phred.org/~alex/stripmime.pl)
