ok well I got sick of not being able to use mailman, so I decided to
downgrade to the last stable release (v2.0.6) and everything is working
perfectly now.  I move all of the stuff out of /home/mailmain/*, ran the
conifugre/make/make install scripts with the exact same syntaxs, and
everything is working fine now.  so my conclusion is that there is a bug
with something somewhere in 2.1a2.
