No kidding, it would piss me off too ... :-)

We're currently still in development stages with our implementation of
Mailman (such as it is) and haven't experienced this problem to date,
but I've noticed a number of other people have been reporting and
discussing this issue over the past few months. I haven't noticed a
lot of definitive answers or information about this problem in
particular, so I have some questions about its status.

In particular I'm noticing it happen with people with very large
(several hundred to several thousand) users. This is raising some red
flags for me, as one of our current lists slated to be migrated to
Mailman (if we ever get it functional) runs a permanent subscriber
base of ~ twenty-nine thousand people. Now, it is an announce-only
list, with a max of two messages a day... but they're a rather touchy
lot, and mailbombing them with a couple dozen copies of a message is a
sure way to get my cute little butt canned. So I have a vested
interest in preventing this from occurring in our production
environment.

Has it been reasonably established that the file lock is a/an/the
cause of or contributor to this issue? Has anyone managed to
successfully correct the problem? Anyone working on leads? Any
proposed fixes in the future 2.1?

Thanks,
=)
Amanda
