This is what I used to recommend.  However, I discovered that any demime
failure would be hidden and only the RC from the last process in the stage
would count.

What is new in 98a is that you can specify a syntax like 

demime '|other-program' 

and demime will report either its own rc or the rc of the other program if
one is non-zero.
