[Mailman-Users] local address on a list?

Dear all,
I noticed that mailman (2.0b2, at least) does not allow addresses
not qualified (that is, without @) neither as subscribers nor in the 
"white list" of people allowed to post even if not subscribed to the list

Unfortunately, my sendmail munges domain information for local names:
this means that every message of mine must be approved by hand
(or I must use a different address outside my host).
What do you think I can do?
