[Mailman-Users] upgrading from rc1

I scanned the msgs since 2 nov 99 and didn't find anything too specific on
upgrading to 1.1

Currently using 1.0rc1 under linux 2.0.32(OLD slackware)
I've read: UPGRADING and README and INSTALL

Am I correct in that I simply install over the top of my existing rc1 as if
this were to be a first time install and then 'make update'?

Is there any way to quickly determine which mail and cgi gid's I originally
used? apache136 running as web,www. mail group by default is 'mail'. I
also have a group called 'mailman' but don't recall if that was used in
production or testing during my first attempted install of rc1.
