[Mailman-Users] getting full names with mailman

I used listproc and smartlist before moving to mailman. In listproc
the "full names"[1] of users were provided in some file.   And with a
little bit of extra work, I was able to get smartlist to do this in
one of its hooks.

Has anyone investigated adding hooks to allow things like this in
mailman?  What are the issues?
