This is primarily a bug fix and security release, although it also contains two new languages: Arabic and Vietnamese. This version is not yet recommended for production environments, however testing and feedback is greatly encouraged. My plan is to release 2.1.9 final by 10-Sep-2006. A more detailed list of changes will be included in the final release announcement. Mailman 2.1.9rc1.tgz is available from SourceForge: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=103 Translators: If you have any language updates you'd like to see in 2.1.9 final, please commit them now or send them to me. It looks like Ping is going to work on it. It's great if we can get updates into 2.1.9, but don't worry, if you don't finish it in time please continue to send updates; we can always release a 2.1.10 at some point with language updates. - -Barry -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (Darwin) iQCVAwUBRPs4GXEjvBPtnXfVAQKN6wP/TvzvCZ7HLnjr7jR8XrqGK75DLmG9BTXh 5yAAl16fTMHaLo8QMWBRldKk/cRqQxSbF3zvlcn180wEjR/kIbL5hSeYbl6saatf ibjPnCSzcRz4ciSKUkAUD1I3PGVRHPW5PoKR9XZhp1SEeuZC6KJlmiN4Jmh5IDeN cZr0fqAFg2U= =orZ+ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From clytie at riverland.net.au Mon Sep 4 08:30:03 2006 From: clytie at riverland.net.au (Clytie Siddall) Date: Mon, 4 Sep 2006 16:00:03 +0930 Subject: [Mailman-i18n] stable or trunk? Barry, would you please give us notice to translate the Release Notes or Release Announcement before the final release? You were probably going to do that anyway, but just in case. ;) It's a big thing, especially, for the communities which will now have access to Mailman in their own languages. I know the reason I translated Mailman was how frustrated I felt everytime I clicked on 'Language" at a Mailman list and it didn't list Vietnamese (half the time it only lists English, for some reason). So I'm really looking forward to announcing the new version to my community! :) from Clytie (vi-VN, Vietnamese free-software translation team / nh?m Vi?t h?a ph?n m?m t? do) http://groups-beta.google.com/group/vi-VN -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: Hi everyone :) I've received the debconf update mail [1] for the file "mailman 1:2.1.8-3". Although my language is now supported in both stable [2] and trunk [3] Mailman, this template does not list my language in the fairly long list of supported languages. Does this mean that the Debian package is lagging behind current versions? I'm a bit disappointed, because I've looked forward to my community being able to use Mailman. from Clytie (vi-VN, Vietnamese free-software translation team / nh?m Vi?t h?a ph?n m?m t? do) http://groups-beta.google.com/group/vi-VN These notes are for translators who may not be used to the jargon: [1] (a) debconf - a configuration program for the Debian free-software operating system: its files are called "debconf templates". If you package software for Debian, you also create a debconf template to configure that software for that user's Debian system. (b) update mail - there are around 700 debconf templates, so monitoring a list of them, especially in a distributed system like Debian, is inefficient. Developers can register for these update mails, which notify the last translator when the file is updated, and send it to him/her for update. You send the updated file by reply.
