I'm a total newbie about Mailman, and it seems to be good for lists management, but i'm a little stuck because most of the people intended to be the users and administrators of the lists don't have a clue of english. So I translate the templates directory to spanish before I heard of this list, maybe it wasn't a good idea, because most of the messages are into .py files and I still need the full translation to spanish. I need the lists to be moderated, and it most be ASAP. Any help will be very appreciated. A few days ago we noticed the availability of a new release of Mailman (Mailman 2.0 beta 2). Are you working on upgrading internationalization from Mailman 1.x to 2.0? Or do you need help for this job (although we don`t have knowledge in programming Python, but, if necessary, we will look for someone)? We would like to use an internationalized Mailman 2.0 and hope that we can modify our german translation to use it for it. Do you think its possible? Do you think it is possible to finish an internationalized Mailman 2.0 version until May, 15th? No, I'm waiting to Barry to integrate patches into Mailman (from February :-( ) > Or do you need help for this job (although we don`t have knowledge > in programming Python, but, if necessary, we will look for someone)? I think my initial job is finished. I have a FULLY version at joker.sci.uma.es > > We would like to use an internationalized Mailman 2.0 > and hope that we can modify our german translation to use it for it. If you want I can give you the version I have working in my site. You can adapt easily german templates. > > Do you think its possible? > Do you think it is possible to finish an internationalized > Mailman 2.0 version until May, 15th? Really, I don't know, you should ask it to Barry. It is the same probelm that has already been mentioned in this list. Some of the messages are hard coded into the source. I don't know how the internalization project is going. What I need is just some information on how to translate the hard coded parts. Where can I find the hard coded messages? I really appreciate any help you can give. " To make a port to another language, THE ONLY THING you need to translate: 1) public templates - important - the ones I have modified to support languages. 2) the catalog mailman accesses to translate messages inside code. I send you all files you need to your private e-mail. I send you spanish catalog so that you can compare how I have made it. The catalog is the large stuff. There are messages that are displayed in WEB, so special characters as áéíóú are coded as: á é... Messages that are to be sent via e-mail need not to be coded. Simply note how my messages are translated and follow the same guidelines. " After messages are translated, they should be sent to Barry with the proper papers signed.
