[Mailman-Developers] OT: The impact of Internet standards/RFC's

Sorry for this OT question.

I am about to start writing my final paper soon and have been looking
around for interesting topics.

With e-mail being so large a part of almost everybody's daily working
routine, one (me) would think that the actual e-mail
format/protocol/standard would have a rather big influence on the way
people communicate/work together/socialise.

The impact/influence might be so big that you could actually see a change
in the way people work with the release of a new Outlook version.
Or maybe looking at a 5-10 year period you could see communication patterns
change as a result of a new RFC document, e.g. will the newly inserted
listinfo headers in Mailman change the way people communicate (this might
be a silly example, but you get the idea).

I would love to hear if anyone has heard of similar (or even vaguely
similar) research.
Also pointers to anything even remotely similar are very much appreciated.

And finally I would be interested in hearing your own opinion.

Many thanks in advance,
Jesper.
