I'm more interested in going a step further, toward an auth and
config system which is not only external to Mailman, but which is an
assembly of fragmented/divers forms which are then unified.
Specifically I'd like to build a system which can auth against
Jabber, LDAP, other Mailman installations (XML/RPC), anything else
that satisfies the same XML/RPC requirements, LDAP, SQL, etc. No
more of this single one-source-for-everything deal.

I also have a particular interest in doing mixed-mode SMTP/Jabber
based lists all run/operated by Mailman.
