That should work. Have you tried looking for /mailman/ yourself ? How about
looking at the script that generates those messages ? I don't have time to
haunt it down myself right now, but if you want to run 2.1-CVS, you better
get used to editing and fixing problems yourself, because the tree is pretty
unstable, still ;)
