Thank for your reply Bill.

Ok.  I did the following:

1)  touch mailman/data/aliases
2)  postalias hash:mailman/data/aliases
	generates mailman/data/aliases.db
3)  bin/newlist

and obtain the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/mailman/scripts/driver", line 96, in run_main
    main()
  File "/usr/lib/mailman/Mailman/Cgi/create.py", line 54, in main
    process_request(doc, cgidata)
  File "/usr/lib/mailman/Mailman/Cgi/create.py", line 178, in
process_request
    sys.modules[modname].create(mlist, cgi=1)
  File "/usr/lib/mailman/Mailman/MTA/Postfix.py", line 134, in create
    addlist(mlist, db, fp)
  File "/usr/lib/mailman/Mailman/MTA/Postfix.py", line 91, in addlist
    print >> fp, '# CREATED:', time.ctime()
TypeError: function requires at least one argument

And the mailman/data/aliases contains this:

# This file is generated by Mailman, and is kept in sync with the
# binary hash file aliases.db. YOU SHOULD NOT MANUALLY EDIT THIS FILE
# unless you know what you're doing, and can keep the two files properly
# in sync. If you screw it up, you're on your own.

# STANZA START: test3
# CREATED:

Any other idea? I can test any suggestion.
