Posting this to ipython-dev in case someone on windows has time to look at
it. I'm currently running only linux and can't play with it for a while.

…this isn't real important, but just more of a FYI.
Basically, under Windows (XP):
1) launch IPython,
2) type Ctrl-D to exit,
3) hit Enter to begin a new line
4) type pretty much anything that isn't a command – IPython reports that it
has crashed. It should probably just give a little error about [whatever
you typed] is not defined.
