If you had looked into the list archive, you would have seen that this 
list is not abandoned at all, but also not very high-volume. If you 
would have got no answer for 6 days, I would have understood your 
concern, but 6 hours really is no time (especially considering things 
like the different time zones). Please remember that this is free 
software and the maintainers likely have some other things todo than 
lurking on the mailing list for 24/7.

Anway, I'm sure that the PIL maintainers will appreciate your interest 
in and support for PIL and will answer you as soon as they find the time 
to do so.
