[Image-SIG] Palette fill on lines?

I tried the example at:
http://www.pythonware.com/products/pil/articles/creating-palette-images.htm

and tried playing around with it.

Whiel the setink works for various kinds of things like rectangles, 
it doesn't appear to work for lines.

So, at the risk of sounding like a complete dolt, how do I specify a 
colored line? Trying an RGB tuple didn't work for the fill parameter, 
for example. setink on the prior line is soundly ignored.
