I'm not sure where to start, so I looked on the python website and it said to join this group. I hope the people here can give me some good advice. I've looked at the "meetup" site (http://python.meetup.com/) and there's definitely some interest on there from Iowans and my boss is also interested. Ideas and pointers on how to get going would be appreciated. We hit up the Linux user groups and GIS user groups in AR and the surrounding areas. You might look on meetup for any of those to contact. If there are people on meetup interested in starting a PUG, email them. Keep in mind that you need to be dedicated to make this work, it can be hard to get/keep people involved, and you may end up shouldering alot of the work. But its worth it. Our group doesnt meet much, but we do interact alot on our email list, and we are currently organizing our first pyArkansas conference (http://pycamp.python.org/Arkansas/HomePage) , which is looking good. Also, search the archives for this group-organizers list, as questions like yours get asked frequently (I asked the same one years ago :-) ) HTH chad > -----Original Message----- > From: group-organizers-bounces+chad_cooper=swn.com at python.org > [mailto:group-organizers-bounces+chad_cooper=swn.com at python.or g] On Behalf Of Mike Driscoll > Sent: Monday, August 18, 2008 7:35 AM > To: group-organizers at python.org > Subject: [group-organizers] Iowa PUG > > Hi, > > I am hoping to start a Python User's Group in Iowa.
