I've been sent on a quest to get as many people to respond to it as possible. It's commissioned by the Scottish government so the results could potentially be quite important. Also, it's pretty short! https://survey.napier.ac.uk/n/WomenInICT.aspx As well as filling in the survey, if you could pass the survey onto anyone you know - the survey is for men and women who - work in technology - supervise or hire people working in technology - want to work in technology Thanks for any help you can give! There will be a pub meetup this Tuesday starting at 6:30pm. I'm afraid I haven't got the details sorted out yet, but I'll get that done tomorrow and send out another email to let you all know where we're meeting. (It was great to see some of you at PyConUK this weekend!) Mark From mark.smith at practicalpoetry.co.uk Tue Sep 22 12:44:02 2015 From: mark.smith at practicalpoetry.co.uk (Mark Smith) Date: Tue, 22 Sep 2015 11:44:02 +0100 Subject: [Python Edinburgh] Pub Meetup Tonight Message-ID: Hi All, We'll be meeting downstairs at Milne's Bar on Hanover St from 6:30pm. If you're new, you can identify us by printouts of the Python logo on the tables. Milne's is a cosy, old fashioned pub in the heart of Edinburgh. It serves fairly standard pub grub, but at city centre prices, so if you're on a budget you may want to eat before coming. This is our most informal regular event, a great chance to meet other Python developers in the local community. There's no agenda, just a chance to chat over a drink and maybe some food. *No minimum skill level* is expected - in fact this is a great place to come along and ask questions! If you're not comfortable inserting yourself into a group of strangers, ask for me (Mark Smith), and I'll attempt to introduce you to some people who share your interests. All events run by Python Edinburgh have a Code of Conduct: http://www.pythonedinburgh.org/pages/code-of-conduct/ Mark PS: So sorry for how late this email is. Python Edinburgh events are held on the 4th Tuesday every month (except for December) - stick it in your calendar! This would involve attending a run through of the course over a day or two (free Python training, yay!) and providing feedback. The two courses are: * Python Quickstart (Aimed at beginners) * Working faster with Python (Aimed at people who work with Python, but missed out on proper developer training e.g. academics, researchers, analysts, IT people) There's more details on the website: http://www.codecoaching.ninja If you are interested either in helping refine the courses or attending once they're ready, please let me know. Although I have experience coaching one to one, group courses are a new venture so if anyone has question or suggestions, I'm all ears! You can use the contact form on the website, or email me directly. Needless to say, forwarding this on to potentially interested parties will result in much good karma coming your way.
