Hi Wolfgang,

the rename of site-packages to dist-packages is a specialty of Debian/Ubuntu,
which patches Python in that regard (that's why the docstring is correct for
their version).  Of course the online docs cannot know that you are using
Debian :)

I've create a patch to add a note in the site module docs that some
distributions change the default module search path, and it is for discussion
with the Debian maintainers on <http://bugs.python.org/issue17727>.
