[Distutils] Newby Question: install easy_install for python2.5 on RHEL

Thanks, that was just the hint that I needed. In case anyone else that
was struggling with this configuration, what I did was:
wget
http://bashton.com/downloads/rpm/python/python25-devel-2.5.1-bashton1.x8
6_64.rpm
sudo yum --nogpgcheck localinstall
python25-devel-2.5.1-bashton1.x86_64.rpm
sudo sh setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg
sudo python2.5 ez_setup.py
...
Now the rest of the install is working (although my code still has a
unnecessary dependency for me to work out ;-( ).

You are probably missing your distribution's "python-dev" or
"python-devel" package, which is required to use the distutils at
all, let alone setuptools.
