(your question prompted me to make sure the ecj site is accurate - the registration details for the fall jam are not yet there, but the dates on the site are correct, and in general the site should be helpful for confirming this kind of thing: http://eastcoastjam.com .) -- ken ken.manheimer at gmail.com http://myriadicity.net On 6/7/06, AMANDA ABRAMS wrote: > Does anyone know when the fall jam is? Feel free to print out the attached doc (the same as below) and post! Thanks, take care, Amanda *SITE EVENTS* DANCERS / PERFORMING ARTISTS CALL FOR PROPOSALS The DC 12th Annual Improvisation Plus+ Festival, October 17 - 22, 2006, is seeking proposals from dancers and other performing artists interested in participating in the 2006 Festival. The DC Improvisation Festival has been held annually in Washington for the past eleven years. Earlier festivals have included a variety of DC dance groups, actors and musicians, as well as artists from elsewhere in the US and the world. Performances have been held in various locations and theaters around town. PLAN FOR THIS YEAR: The Festival will feature site-specific performances held in public places around Washington, DC. Performances will be free and will occur regularly throughout the course of the festival. OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARTICIPATION: Festival organizers are seeking artists to create work and perform it during the festival. Performances will be publicized by festival organizers, and a small stipend may be available. Applicants are urged to select a specific site and develop work in which the site itself is an integral part of the performance; the work should ideally change how observers experience that place in the future. Possible sites include the Lincoln Memorial, Union Station or Malcolm X Park, but unusual spots, and streets and neighborhoods where everyday life occurs, are particularly encouraged. Improvisation should be part of the work. It is up to each participant to define improvisation. To apply, please send a Word document with this information: 1. Name, a short bio 2. Contact information for the artist creating the work (email and telephone) 3. Number of performers involved 4. The performance site 5. A short description of the envisaged performance, including an explanation of how the work will genuinely incorporate the site (maximum 500 words) 6. Necessary conditions for the performance (i.e., daytime) and date/time restrictions, if applicable Send all applications or questions to Amanda Abrams at abramsamanda at hotmail.com. Deadline for applications is July 15, 2006. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
