PyPI has already pointed me to several relevant packages I was unaware of. On the mundane side, is this mailing list the intended place for general users to send notifications of such things as dead or forbidden links, typos, etc.? For example on http://www.python.org/pypi?:action=display&name=OpenTAL&version=0.3 the Home Page link leads to a very uninformative "Forbidden access" page. Thanks again for PyPI (and for Python), Bill From richardjones@optushome.com.au Mon Mar 3 11:13:19 2003 From: richardjones@optushome.com.au (Richard Jones) Date: Mon, 3 Mar 2003 22:13:19 +1100 Subject: [Catalog-sig] PyPI Maintenance Question In-Reply-To: <20030302142541.40cee279.wdtrenker@yahoo.ca> References: <20030302142541.40cee279.wdtrenker@yahoo.ca> Message-ID: <200303032213.20123.richardjones@optushome.com.au> On Mon, 3 Mar 2003 01:25 am, William Trenker wrote: > First, congrats on a fabulous concept and implementation. It's probably best to email the author, rather than this list. The author i= n=20 this instance is "lalo at laranja org", which is obviously missing an "@"=20 symbol and a "." :) Richard From amk@amk.ca Mon Mar 3 12:52:56 2003 From: amk@amk.ca (A.M. I noticed there's already been at least one change request that was filed and completed in that tracker. We should also try to distribute the work of managing the database so that Richard doesn't have to do it all, but that's a topic for the pydotorg list. --amk (www.amk.ca) If you're using anything besides US-ASCII, I *stringly* suggest Python 2.0. -- Uche Ogbuji (A fortuitous typo?), 29 Jan 2001 From richardjones@optushome.com.au Mon Mar 3 20:38:12 2003 From: richardjones@optushome.com.au (Richard Jones) Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2003 07:38:12 +1100 Subject: [Catalog-sig] PyPI Maintenance Question In-Reply-To: <20030303075255.A4689@nyman.amk.ca> References: <20030302142541.40cee279.wdtrenker@yahoo.ca> <200303032213.20123.richardjones@optushome.com.au> <20030303075255.A4689@nyman.amk.ca> Message-ID: <200303040738.12522.richardjones@optushome.com.au> On Mon, 3 Mar 2003 11:52 pm, A.M. Yes, the user in question failed to read the sidebar which mentions bug=20 reports and support requests, and came straight to the list. I expected tha= t=20 initially, and forgot to mention it in my reply (it was late.) It was so=20 late, if fact, that I've only just read my reply and it's pretty obscure :) I hope the author can actually deciper my description of the email address= =20 obsfuscation and contact lalo... I didn't pay enough attention; I thought it applied to the python site as a whole.
