[Borgbackup] borg and vm backup

Hallo, I'm using borg for backing up several things, a share, mail and
vm. I copy data to be backed up on a dedicated nas, then I do the backup.

After the backup I mount the last backup and check md5 hash of the files
on the nas and files in the backup. I tried a restore of some file (the
md5 check was ok) and I did md5sum of the file on the nas, the file in
the backup and the restored file:

b84496e57c6938a89ddfd6e0aa68fa4d /mnt/src/dati_rt/INVOICE KOSCHITZ1.jpg
b84496e57c6938a89ddfd6e0aa68fa4d
/mnt/borg/restore/src/20181115/mnt/src/dati_rt/INVOICE KOSCHITZ1.jpg
b84496e57c6938a89ddfd6e0aa68fa4d /mnt/borg/restore/tgt/INVOICE
KOSCHITZ1.jpg

All are the same, so I should be sure the backup is OK.

I tried the same for the vm vmdk:

c61342bdebbcdbaeb37473d76e4a3e06
/mnt/src/vmbck/daily/Soekris3/Soekris3-2018-11-15_01-15-01/Soekris3-1-flat.vmdk
c61342bdebbcdbaeb37473d76e4a3e06
/mnt/borg/restore/src/20181115/mnt/src/vmbck/daily/Soekris3/Soekris3-2018-11-15_01-15-01/Soekris3-1-flat.vmdk
79f8b416f4073e3e9a40da8989043073
/mnt/borg/restore/tgt/Soekris3/Soekris3-2018-11-15_01-15-01/Soekris3-1-flat.vmdk

-rw-------. 1 root root 5368709120 Nov 15 02:40
/mnt/borg/restore/src/20181115/mnt/src/vmbck/daily/Soekris3/Soekris3-2018-11-15_01-15-01/Soekris3-1-flat.vmdk
-rw-------. 1 root root 5368709120 Nov 15 02:40
/mnt/borg/restore/tgt/Soekris3/Soekris3-2018-11-15_01-15-01/Soekris3-1-flat.vmdk
-rw-------. 1 root root 5368709120 Nov 15 02:40
/mnt/src/vmbck/daily/Soekris3/Soekris3-2018-11-15_01-15-01/Soekris3-1-flat.vmdk

The last line is the restored vmdk, it differs from the others. I
suppose because I use thin provisioning so the vmdk is a sparse file and
maybe the restore process restore it as a thick provisioned file. I have
imported the vm in esxi and it works, but how can I check a vm restore
if the md5sum is different?

Any idea?

Thanks, Pietro.
