[Borgbackup] Segment size

Hi,

A couple of years ago(1), the default segment size was changed from ~5MiB
to ~500MiB.  Can anyone provide more detail on the reasoning?  I am
planning to use an s3ql filesystem as storage, and am concerned the large
segments will create headaches.  If the change was to improve disk I/O
performance, that wouldn't really apply to this use case (network is the
bottleneck, anyway).  I'd like to know if there are any other consequences
to a much smaller segment size.
