From zaras at teksystems.com Fri Jan 4 11:00:34 2019 From: zaras at teksystems.com (Aras, Zeynel) Date: Fri, 4 Jan 2019 16:00:34 +0000 Subject: [Python-Belgium] Trying to broaden my network of Python enthousiasts + looking for freelance Python developers for two clients in Brussels Message-ID: Dear Python network, I hope that me mailing this request won't bother you, but as a recruiter I want to specialize in the recruitment of Python developers. This has proven to be very difficult, because it seems that in Belgium people don't learn Python at school, so not many people know Python development sufficiently. There are also not many companies looking for Python developers. However, today I have two clients in Brussels who are looking in total for 9 Python developers, 1 can be a more Javascript oriented developer with some Python skills. So the first thing I want to achieve with this mail is to get to know some Python developers, to talk to them about this language and maybe receive tips about where I can find people who can develop with or who are interested in Python. The second is of course to find people who would be interested in these positions in Brussels at the moment. I am looking forward to your responses and hope to see you at FOSDEM! FOSDEM is in 3 weeks from now, and I see a couple of volunteers already have subscribed to the different polls I sent, thanks a lot! For those who just have now a clearer view on their agenda: *many spots are still open! * Notably there are plenty of room at the booth ( https://framadate.org/python-fosdem-2019-stand) which is a very fun experience and a great way to meet with people curious about Python (isn't it why we're going to FOSDEM?). A good number is 2-3 people at the booth during peak hours, since that's about how many people we can fit behind the table. Also, it would be great to have people handling the recording ( https://framadate.org/python-fosdem-2019-video). It seems that the role of the operator is limited to: - swapping batteries in the microphone when they run out - keeping an eye on the recordings and warn the FOSDEM video team if something isn't working for some reason The video team also published some guides for the potential operators: - TL;DR guide: https://github.com/FOSDEM/video/blob/master/instructions/sources/FOSDEM_Devroom_manual.md - The full manual for video (obviously not just for the operators): https://github.com/FOSDEM/video/blob/master/instructions/FOSDEM_AV_manual.pdf Regarding the devroom, we'll have someone present to host the room itself, but it's going to be a lot of hassle to present the speakers *and* manage the video feed, so if 2-3 more people could register to handle the video that would be very appreciated. Looking forward to see you there! Like every year, we will be hosting a community dinner on Saturday 2nd of February. To simplify the checkout process that can be lengthy with 40+ guests, we decided this year to pre-sell tickets for the dinner. One price, no bill splitting issues, no cash, no problem. You can purchase the tickets here: https://python-fosdem-2019-dinner.eventbrite.be One ticket will give you 2 drinks (beer, wind or soft) and a 2 course meal (starters and main) to chose from a selection of traditional Belgian dishes. In case of food restriction, the waiter will suggest adequate alternatives on the spot. Supplements (desert, coffee, extra drinks) can of course be purchased directly from the restaurant. Please be sure to register before January 31st since this is our deadline for booking the right number of seats. On arrival at the restaurant, please show your ticket(s) (printed or smartphone) at the entrance to be allowed in. Most speakers and devroom organizers will be present, so it is a good way to get to know them and exchange with other Python lovers. See you there!
