...unfortunately, that means it's still not good enough.  I won't say
it's the worst Python book I've seen, but it definitely ranks among the
worst.  It contains many errors and shows little awareness of Pythonic
style.

Speaking as someone who came to Python "from" Perl (I actually have a lot
of other languages under my belt), I think the best approach is to simply
learn Python on its own terms.  I beat my head against the wall for
almost two months before I started to "get it", and I blame trying to use
Python as if it were Perl for that.
