If you define a 'standard' as something that is well documented and
accessible through well defined APIs, and with decent availability of
bi-directional sync solutions, Google Contacts and Outlook Contacts would
both fit the bill. They are both well documented and you would be hard
pressed to find a phone which does not sync to one or both of them.

Can you state your problem or pain point precisely?
