webfaction - is shared hosting, utterly reliable and gives an almost root 
access

linode, slicehost, gandi are also utterly reliable and give you a vps with 
root access - and variable facilities like disk space, bandwidth and memory - 
buy as much as you need.

This is assuming that you are following standard practices like version 
controlled code etc etc
